Like many times when an incredibly bright and genial star passes away way too soon, her untimely demise shattered her growing profile. People mourned the entire extent of its untapped potential. Selena's tragic death by shooting provoked a response from the Latino community that was similar to reactions following the deaths of Elvis Presley or John Lennon. The singer was extremely popular in Latino communities across North America her music crossed cultural boundaries to touch the lives of children as well as old.
